What you'll build

The challenge

Build a working agentic app with Lemma - open-source infrastructure for coding agents.

01

Build with Lemma SDK

Use Lemma SDK as the infrastructure layer for your product. Lemma provides components like datastores, document stores, agents, workflows, functions, and integrations.

Bring your own IDE, AI coding tool, API key, builder platform, and hosting or deployment setup.

02

Any real-world problem

Pick a specific user, pain point, and workflow. Keep it useful and demoable.

See problem statements
03

Or pick a problem statement

Choose a company challenge, a suggested use case, or your own problem.

04

Ship something functional

Polish is optional. The core loop should work end-to-end.

Problem statements

Curated problem statements

Build from our suggested problem statements or bring your own idea. The goal is simple: solve a real problem.

Best fit: Lemma works best for products that help someone manage a real workflow - not just a static website, public app that doesn't require login, or one-off chatbot.
Support

AI Customer Support Desk for a Startup

Small startups receive customer issues across email, forms, and Slack. Build an AI support desk that can triage issues, search product docs, draft replies, track ticket status, and escalate important cases for review.

Engineering

AI Bug Triage & Release Operator

Startup development teams receive bugs, feature requests, and customer complaints across GitHub, Slack, email, and support channels. Build an AI operator that turns messy feedback into organized issues, suggests priority, creates reproduction steps, links related bugs, tracks fixes, and prepares release notes.

Release

AI PR Review & Release Readiness Assistant

Small engineering teams ship fast but often miss broken flows, missing docs, untested edge cases, migration risks, and release notes. Build an AI assistant that reviews PR context, checks a release checklist, flags risks, prepares test plans, and creates release notes.

Execution

AI Meeting to Execution Operator

Meetings often end with decisions, tasks, and promises that are never properly tracked. Build an AI operator that turns meeting notes or transcripts into action items, owners, deadlines, follow-ups, and a live execution board.

Sales

AI Sales / Founder Follow-up CRM

Founders, freelancers, and early sales teams often forget who to follow up with, what was promised, and which leads are warm. Build an AI CRM that tracks conversations, summarizes lead history, suggests next actions, drafts follow-ups, and keeps a priority queue.

What is Lemma?

Open-source SDK for AI-native software

Most software records what happened. Lemma is infrastructure for software that actually does the work - combining structured data, AI agents, automated workflows, and custom interfaces in one environment.

The SDK is open-source and locally runnable. It gives you the building blocks to ship agentic applications, multi-step workflows, and AI-powered products - without stitching together five different APIs.

What you can build with it

AI agents with context
Multi-step automations
Searchable knowledge stores
Custom team interfaces
Event-driven workflows
Structured data + AI actions
End-to-end AI products

Judging criteria

What we evaluate

Judges weight real-world utility above everything else.

35%

Problem clarity & real-world fit

Is this a genuine problem? Is the target user specific?
25%

Product judgment

Does the solution fit the problem? Any wasted complexity?
25%

Execution quality

Does it actually work? Is the core loop functional?
15%

SDK utilisation

Did you use Lemma SDK meaningfully, not just superficially?
Hiring track

How the hiring fast-track works

Your submission goes to work for you - matched to AI Product Engineer and AI Product Manager roles at partner companies.

01

Submissions evaluated

Our panel reviews all submissions for problem clarity, product thinking, and execution quality.

02

Candidates assessed

Top builders are evaluated not just on what they built, but how they scoped and defended their decisions.

03

Matchmaking

We match shortlisted candidates to AI Product Engineer and AI Product Manager roles at partner companies based on skills, product thinking, and role fit.

04

Your profile is sent

Your resume, project summary, and a written rationale for the match go directly to the hiring team - no cold applications.

05

You get the interview

Partner companies review your profile and invite you directly for a first-round interview. No CV screening, no recruiter filters.

No placement fees. No commissions. We introduce you - what happens next is between you and the company.

Project track

Evolve your build into a real Lemma project

Top 10 teams get the chance to keep building - with the Lemma team behind them.

1

Top 10 shortlisted

The top 10 teams or individual builders from the hackathon are invited to continue developing their project.

2

Build under Lemma team's guidance

Two more weeks to refine and develop your submission into a full-fledged product - with direct guidance from the Lemma team on architecture, SDK usage, and product decisions.

3

Project certificate

All participants who complete the project track receive a verified certificate of contribution - a real credential, not participation filler.

4

Selected projects featured on Lemma

The strongest projects are published on the Lemma website as community templates - discoverable by everyone building on the SDK.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before registering.

Do I need to know Lemma SDK before June 24?

No. The SDK launches publicly on June 24 - everyone starts fresh. Docs, starter templates, and community support are available from day one.

Do I need to bring my own IDE or coding agent?

Yes. Participants must bring their own development setup. Lemma provides the open-source SDK, starter examples, and documentation, but not an IDE, coding agent, model API key, or hosting environment.

You can use any setup you prefer: Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Replit, Emergent, or another builder platform. Lemma SDK is the infrastructure layer you build with, especially for components like datastores, document stores, agents, workflows, functions, and integrations.

What counts as a functional product?

The core loop must work end-to-end and be demonstrable in a screen recording. Polished UI isn't required - it just needs to do the thing it claims to do.

Is this only for developers?

No. This hackathon is for developers, product thinkers, operators, and students. You can use your own IDE or AI coding agent with Lemma SDK to build end-to-end agentic apps. What matters is whether you can define a real problem clearly and ship a useful working product.

What do I submit on June 30?

A form with: the problem you solved, your solution approach, a screen recording of the product in action, and team details. No decks required.

Can I participate solo?

Yes. Solo and teams of up to 3 are both eligible. All prizes and tracks apply equally.

Is the hiring track automatic for top performers?

If you're in the top 10, your profile goes to the relevant partner companies with a written rationale - no separate application needed.

About us

Who's behind this

Gappy AI

Gappy AI

An AI startup building at the intersection of AI and real-world workflows. We've spent the last few years figuring out how AI can move beyond chatbots and actually help teams operate - that led us to Lemma, open-source infrastructure for AI-native software.

The team

The team

IIT Kharagpur alumni on their second startup, having worked in and built products at some of India's leading companies. We built Lemma because we lived the gap ourselves - and got tired of patching it with spreadsheets.

Why this hackathon

Why this hackathon

The hiring track isn't a formality. We're invested in putting the right builders in front of the right companies - it's the kind of break we wished existed when we were starting out.
